          getpid, getppid - get process ids

          int getppid(void)

     DESCRIPTION
          Getpid returns the process id of the current process, a
          number guaranteed to be unique among all running processes
          on the machine executing getpid.

          Getppid returns the process id of the parent of the current
          process.
